Writing is my compass. History is my guide.
Storytelling is how I find my way.

The chief method of wayfinding over the centuries has been through storytelling.  It's carried in song and is stories told at campfires under the dark skies and bright stars.  Knowledge passes quietly and woven into tales of journeys taken and paths discovered so that each traveller learns to trust both the world and their own intuition.

These tales become a compass that gentle asks us how wish to navigate.  On each path there are markers.  Some show the way forward and others appear where the roads divide asking, which road will you follow?

Maree Choi -Writing Wanderer

I’ve always been drawn to what sits beneath the surface: the patterns in people’s choices, the quiet turning points in a life, and the ways we find our way back to ourselves through experience.

I think often about who witnesses our stories, and how we make meaning from both the difficult and the beautiful parts of who we are, and where we’ve come from.

Stories are the invisible threads that draws me forward. Across cities, across seas, across the infinite space of what if. The tales I’m drawn to move through the heart, towards imagination and across time. I hold quiet space for emotional complexity. I believe we need meaning, not just correctness.

The question I ask myself is one I’ve come to recognise in others too, often unspoken:

Who am I when I have given myself permission?

It’s within our storytelling that we both reveal and witness our own truth.

“Ogni scrittura è un modo di cercare se stessi.”— Umberto Eco

Every act of writing is a way of searching for oneself.

Born into a minor yangban household in the early Joseon period, Gyeong-seon is raised to observe, record, and remain unseen. But her precision draws her into the Bureau of Astronomy at the founding of a new dynasty, where the stars are read not for wonder alone, but for power, shaping ritual, rule, and fate. As a scribe to a queen who listens closely to the sky, Gyeong-seon begins to see more than she was ever meant to.

When a foreign astronomer arrives from across the seas, travelling between Java and Joseon, he brings with him a different map of the cosmos. One shaped by story, destiny, and the fragile balance between action and surrender. What begins as careful observation becomes something riskier: a quiet merging of worlds, where meaning stretches beyond a single sky.

But knowledge carries consequence. After the queen’s death in 1396, Gyeong-seon must choose between safety and truth - between the life she is meant to return to, and the one she has already begun to imagine.

A story of stars, silence, and the cost of seeing differently.

우리가 쓰는 이야기도, 우리가 잊지 못하는 사람들도 그 안에 머문다.

Yeon cannot be explained, only felt. The stories we write, and the people we cannot forget, remain within it.
